I was doing laundry and out of nowhere, I felt the weight of the saying “we live only to die” and of course, it made me think hard about whether I’ve lived my life. Back in high school, I didn’t live life and worked hard towards my uncertain future, up to the point where there was certainly nothing left to be done if I didn’t get the future I wanted. I worked hard and I got what I deserved. Nowadays I’m realizing that I work hard and sometimes I don’t get what I necessarily deserve. Maybe I didn’t work hard enough. Or maybe I just realized I wasn’t living life. I was throwing away my own life for an uncertain future and working hard towards an uncertain outcome but the thing is, everything in life is uncertain. The problem was, I was feeding my brain but not my heart. I was feeding my brain with information only relevant to this time period in this temporary world and depriving my soul of the passion, excitement, and joy that only comes from living life. & thinking back to the past 4 years of my life, I can say that I’m satisfied with how I lived it. My future is extremely uncertain right now and I’m not the type of person to be comfortable with that. But I’ve worked for what I have and I’m going to trust that life will take me wherever I’m supposed to end up. I’ve lived 21 years without regrets and I’m certainly not going to start letting regrets eat me alive now.
